We have a peak season from Dec 19th to January 4th where we charge more for the accommodation.
From February 10th until February 15th and during Easter Week, we do not accept reservations with privileged packages, complimentary bookings (CPL) or reservations with great discounts.
Every reservation must be requested in writing (e-mail is the best option).
E-mails are reviewed continuously at Luna Lodge to keep a constant communication with our clients and also keep a record of any agreement between the clients and Luna Lodge. The telephone is a good way of communication to verify spaces but it does not work for confirming reservations.
Confirmation of availability is sent upon receiving the request for the spaces but that does not guarantee the reservation unless a prepayment is received. Normally, a pre-invoice is sent with the breakdown costs, but the spaces can be sold to another client if a response or a pre-payment is not received during the next 8 days in low season or 4 days in High Season.
To guarantee a reservation we need to receive a 50% deposit for the total reservation. This can be paid by sending a credit card. We can only accept Visa and Master card at this time because of our Banco Nacional here in Costa Rica.
Luna Lodge uses the exchange rate permitted in Costa Rica, charging the amount shown in your invoice and does not accept responsibilities for any extra money charged to your credit card by the Banks when processed.
Travel Agencies must make final payment 30 days before the guest’s arrival.
Personal reservations can be paid in full at check-out.
Flights or ground transfer reservations made by Luna Lodge must be paid in full once they have been arranged.
Policy for Cancellations or Refunds:
There is no refund for cancellations received within the 45 days before the clients scheduled arrival, in Low Season, or 60 days before the clients scheduled arrival, in High Season.
The cancellations must be notified by a written statement, we do not accept cancellations notified by telephone.
Please be aware that in case of receiving a cancellation, guaranteed with a credit card, anytime before 45 days of scheduled arrival, you will be charged a 7% bank charge on the total amount you authorized.
The refunds will be done by making a deposit by Internet to your bank account. We can also make a refund for you by credit card but it may take over a week because of the bank system here in Costa Rica.
Accommodations at Luna Lodge consist of:
7 Bungalows with only one dormitory, 2 double beds in each one, private bathroom and electricity 24 hours. We have our own Hydro energy.
1 Bungalow with a king size bed, Private bathroom, with electricity 24 hours. It is the best bungalow for honeymooners.
Due to the location of some of the bungalows, it would be nice to know range of age and we need to be notified of any client that has disability problems ahead of time to arrange for any extra help or need.
3 Hacienda Style Cabins, with only one dormitory, one double bed and a single bed in each one, 3 people can sleep in the same room. Private Bathroom, electricity 24 hours.
6 Stand up platform tents, size 10 x 10 x 10 (feet). 2 single beds in each one, private bathrooms with electricity 24 hours. We have two tents with a double bed.
The prices for these tents make them the ideal ones for backpackers, nature lovers or travelers with a tight budget. These tents are located on the highest point of the lodge, there are many stairs to arrive at the tents, but they have the best view of the mountains and ocean. We have one down below.
We do not accommodate more people than the room’s beds capacity, this avoids unhappy clients. We only make the exception when our clients come with children and wish to be with them in the same room. If this is the case, we will put an extra cot on the floor and this can be done in bungalows only.
One of the bungalows is set for clients with some disability.
Every room at Luna Lodge has flashlights, umbrellas, towels (bath, small and facials), soap, and shampoo.
Policies for Children, Guides, and Chauffeurs:
5 to 11 years old are considered children; Luna Lodge is not recommended for children under 5 years old, it is very difficult to keep them quiet and every client at Luna Lodge is a VIP person and everyone has the right to enjoy the quietness and peaceful atmosphere of this paradisiacal place so reservations with children under 5 years old are not accepted.
Luna Lodge has some very knowledgeable guides on staff, bilingual, very experienced about the area and with first aid preparations. There is always priority for the Luna Lodge’s guides but if a client wants to bring their own guide, he or she can sleep in the employee’s house and eat with the clients at the restaurant. The cost for the food is $65 per day. If the client would like the guide to sleep in the hotel rooms, we can accommodate him in one platform tent with Costa Rican’s rate which also includes de 3 meals and taxes. This is also applied to any driver the guests want to keep with them.
If the clients request transportation with the Luna Lodge’s vehicles to go some where with their own guide, they will be charged $3 per person, one way. There will not be any charge for transportations to tours guided by our guides.
Policies about Transportation:
Luna Lodge offers help contacting a private taxi for transportation from the international airport to anywhere in San Jose or from Puerto Jiménez to Luna Lodge; we can also contact a charter plane company. Due that these are private companies not owned by Luna Lodge, the costs can vary depending on the seasons and we can not be responsible for any variation. The cost for the transportations in San Jose must be paid directly to the driver, but you can pay at the hotel for the transportations from Puerto Jimenez to Luna Lodge. If a client gets a taxi that is not the one we have previously arranged for them, they will be in the obligation of paying their taxi but they will also be charged for the taxi they requested us to arrange for them.
Transportations close to the lodge such as rides to the beach or somewhere else can be arranged with the itineraries of some of our tour trips and for which there will not be any charge. The lodge is located at only 30 minutes, walking distance from the beach, and 10 minutes by car. If a client requests an exclusive transportation, there will be a charge of $3 per person, one way.
Policies about Food, Bar, and Meal Times:
Luna Lodge offers organic healthy food; we serve fish, chicken and red meat. We cater to any dietary needs: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose intolerant.
For Yoga Groups the breakfast can be according to their itinerary
There is always complimentary coffee and tea available at the bar.
The bar is open from 11:00am up until 10:00pm. All bar drinks are extra charges and will be billed every day; the clients must sign the bar slips before leaving to their room. Luna Lodge does not accept any complaints for slips that have been already signed by the client, please check your bar slip carefully before signing.
Check-In and Check-Out Times:
Due to the remoteness of Luna Lodge, check-in can be done at any time between 10:00am to 10:00pm. However, if a person is looking for rooms after 10:00pm, the guard will be authorized to accommodate them, if there is availability. They must provide him a credit card (Visa or Master card) that he is going to retain until next day.
Check-out can be done at anytime from 7:00am to 10:00pm; however, the room must be left before 12:00pm. If the client is leaving late in the afternoon we can keep their luggage in the office.
We, at Luna Lodge, do our best to know of our clients even after they have left our hotel and we do our best to make their trip back as easy as possible; sometimes, however, all of our efforts are not sufficient when situations related with the weather or companies that are out of our control. If that is the case we can only offer all of our communication resources and wait for the best.
